Meet the team
Madeira Xperience was founded by Mauricio Vieira, born and raised on the island. What started as one man and one jeep is now a team of four local guides - all Madeirans who share the same passion for showing visitors the real side of the island.
Over a decade of driving the back roads of Madeira - from the laurel forests of Fanal at dawn to the volcanic coast of Seixal at sunset - the team built the three tours that now make up our catalogue. Each one is a different face of the same island.
No scripted commentary. No bus-line schedules. Real stories, local food stops, and the roads that mass tourism doesn't see.
Our story
It started in 2014, when Mauricio began taking visitors along the roads he grew up driving. Back then it was just one jeep and word of mouth. Today the fleet has grown, the team has four certified guides, and we have hundreds of 5-star reviews on GetYourGuide - but the philosophy hasn't changed: small groups, real knowledge, and routes that big buses physically cannot take.
Licensed and registered
Madeira Xperience is a licensed tourism operator registered with Turismo de Portugal under RNAAT 52/2026. All vehicles and guides are fully insured and certified. Safety isn't a feature - it's a given.
The fleet
Comfortable 4x4 jeep fleet - climate-controlled, with full safety equipment. Small enough for 4-6 passengers, big enough for the mountain roads. Every jeep carries the "Where Madeira feels real" branding - you'll spot us on the road.

Tours operate Monday to Saturday. Children, seniors and groups welcome - just tell us in advance.
